About Me

I live with my wife, beagle and cardigan corgi in Missouri most of the year, with interludes in the Bay Area (summers, holidays, and the occasional long weekend).  My wife and I are academics: she is a political scientist and I am trained as a sociologist, but I have not taught in a sociology department for nearly ten years now. I spend my class time in Political Science and American Culture Studies. My wife and I share research interests in how political institutions interact (like the relations between courts and central governments) and in understanding the circumstances of  ethnic and racial minorities.  We travel for work and pleasure around much of the globe.  When at home we enjoy quality time in the kitchen cooking and baking.  I also am a runner and have been known to climb the occasional mountain and spend weeks in the wilderness with a like-minded friend.
